The US Office of Hazardous Materials Safety (OHMS) presently estimates the number of hazardous materials shipments in the United States at more than 800,000 per day. Approximately 500,000 daily shipments involve chemical and allied product and about 300,000 involve petroleum products, 95% by truck and rail. These may include Explosives, Gases, Flammables, Toxic or corrosive materials, Radioactive Materials, and other Dangerous Goods. Europe has a similar scope of transport.
Regulatory factors dictate the transport of HAZMAT including 49 CFR in the US and the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road ECE/TRANS/225 regulates the carriage of goods by road within the EU. A single incident, however small, can still result in catastrophic consequences for companies and communities alike.
Globe Tracker can not only track the location of these goods, but also utilize specialized sensors to detect leak or loss of product, and enhanced security measure to assure that the loads are not tampered with or worse stolen.
